Information about the Campaign
The campaign is a Wairarapa wide community response to the violence that we have all suffered. It is based on the following four principles and ideas.

Partnerships: We seek to strengthen the many positive relationships between different layers of the community.

Changing Attitudes: This is about getting our whole community to realise that Violence is not an answer to any of our problems.

Improving Wellbeing: We seek to increase the sense of belonging within our community, and to improve the quality of life for everyone.

Improving Coordination: This is about agencies and groups that provide services within our community working together as much as possible.

What is violence?
Violence includes many acts that we may not have previously thought much about. In this campaign we are including...
Physical Violence, Bullying, Intimidation, Threats, Verbal Abuse of anyone - (including everyone from our children to our grandparents), Sexual Violence, Abuse of Animals, Violence on the Sports field, Violence associated with Alcohol.

The White Ribbon
This white ribbon is the symbol of the campaign.
Fly one on your car aerial or rear vision mirror, wear one on your coat or jacket, tie one to your letterbox or door handle.

The Charter
Many organisations have signed a
charter that commits them to working towards the aims of the campaign and to including these aims in their day to day work.

A Family Charter
We will soon be delivering a Family Charter for you. This is something for your family to discuss and decide how you are going to use it. If you take care of your own actions, and those of your family / whanau, then that will go a long way to ensuring that we have a much safer community to share.

How does the campaign work?
The campaign has two staff John Slater the Coordinator and Rawiri Smith the Kokiritia, who work closely together on a variety of projects and ideas. These projects are determined by the campaign committees. You can make a difference by doing some of the things listed below.
